Granadillas from Colombia

Health Foodie Adventure! The Colombian Granadilla

Its the little things in life that make us happy 🙂

This Gif was specially made for a little boy named CJ who reads my posts, and loves to see my excitement for new fruit discoveries!!

My local fruit boy at Spinneys supermarket is used to me coming in once a week asking him a million questions about fruits and vegetables before buying them.

Wheres it from? Is it sweet? Why is it so expensive!?!?!? How do I eat it??

So to his surprise I came in twice this week because I forgot my bananas! He was happy to see me and told me that I had to try this fruit, the Granadilla.  I said um its okay its an orange…..I’ve tried oranges before.. he told me no no this is not an orange its a Granadilla from Colombia.  He insisted that I buy it.  Okay so I bought one granadilla considering that they were 2 USD each!!! they are not very large and I wasn’t even sure if I would like it so buying one for that price was good enough.

I was happy that I bought it because It was something new.. and I can say I did it and I never have to eat it again lol.. It was kind of gross. The inside was slimy and it wasn’t very sweet.  I tried eating it all as one with the seeds, similar to a pomegranate, but the texture and the taste was just not to my liking.  Then I tried just eating the slimy clear stuff and I tried to avoid the seeds, and it was a little bit better..at least without the seeds it was more sweet.. I guess all in all I really wouldn’t try it again because of the texture….. I’m a person who hates jello because of its texture.. so don’t let my blog turn you off from trying it.. Go out get your hands on a Granadilla and video yourself trying it…
The video of the expression on your face after you try a granadilla is Priceless!

On the packaging from Spinneys it said Grenadilla, but when I researched it online it said Granadilla.. just incase anyone was confused on why I spelt it two different ways
