Halloween. I know this is a little late, but better late then never

The seasons don’t really change here.. The best way to describe our seasons are hot, hotter, and RIDICULOUSLY RED HOT.  We are finally in our hot season and out of the Ridiculously Red HOT season.  It is beautiful weather here and we are able to enjoy the beach more and more.

Although living in beautiful warm weather all year round sounds fantastic, it does have its draw backs.  The hardest part about not having all four seasons is that it is difficult to get into the our “American” holiday spirits. October is around the time that the weather starts to cool off, leaves start falling, and Halloween stores start popping up out of nowhere.  Hmm and pumpkin dishes and drinks start showing up on menus! PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE from Starbucks 🙂 oh how I miss you….

It has cooled off to about 85 to 90 degrees here, most American girls would love to celebrate Halloween in those temperatures granted they have the opportunity to wear skimpy Halloween outfits without having to freeze their buns off.  But for us, the heat, lack of spooky decorations on houses, and no sight of candy corn in stores kind of puts us out of the mood.

They did have Halloween outfits in local stores here for kids, and they did have Halloween parties at local clubs for the singles… But Halloween in Dubai is no where near as fun as Halloween in NYC…
Phil and I agreed we were not interested in partying in Dubai, so we looked for some type of other activity to still feel in the spirit. On a last minute decision of desperation for fun we decided to go to SKI DUBAI!!
Well to our surprise the real Halloween spirit was found in the malls.. All of the kids were trick or treating in the mall from store to store.. Lots of the girls removed their Abayas for the night and slipped into some fun Halloween outfits.  Nothing crazy usually just a witch, or a pumpkin.  I didn’t take any photos out of these women or kids out of respect.  Once on the slopes we found the real Halloween party … Ski Dubai turned into a disco, with blasting music, kids in costumes, and ski jumps for everyone to have a good time..at that point I felt silly that I didn’t dress up!

Cool stylish Sheila’s for the ladies 🙂

I think of myself as a pretty good snowboarder but I do have this fear of doing tricks… After watching these kids for hours flip flop and fly off of all of these jumps, I told myself I have to try at least one jumps, and yes I finally nailed one!

I thought I would add in our experience of ice skating in the Dubai Mall to this post, since both skiing and ice skating are winter sports.

We were the only adults skating, and this was at 10pm-12am, a Disco skating session.  I figured all of these kids would be asleep, but they are obsessed with disco skating!! And to my surprise some of them are really talented.

I thought this was a pretty funny decal to find on someones car in Dubai 🙂

It says I’m single.. thats one way to let people know 🙂
