Last day in Sri Lanka: Buddha, Nuwara Eliya, and Rafting

This was my favorite Buddha… It was high up in the hills and would illuminate the whole city of Kandy at night.  There were stairs behind the Buddha that allowed visitors to climb all the way up to the top of the Buddha.  There was also a secret room inside the Buddha which had pictures portraying the Buddhas life and story.

These girls were obsessed with Phil.  They were trying to snap pictures of him when he wasn’t looking.  I ran after them and told them I want a picture too! lolol

  •  I love the Saree in Sri Lanka.  I did not get to snap a lot of photos of the local dress.  The woman wore sexy fashion forward Sarees showing their bellies.

This was our driver Ravi.. He was definitely happy at this point, that this was the last day we would be making him drive all around Sri Lanka..

This is a picture Ravi showed us of a time when he was part of the Sri Lankan military.

Nuwara Eliya: Tea plantation and Tea Factory!

having wayyyy tooo much fun in the Tea Fields… singing the hills are alive with the sound of music 🙂

So this woman was watching me run around in this tea field from her porch.  I called for her to come down and chat. Phil was screaming at me to leave people alone and that I am crazy.   She was very nice.. didn’t speak one word of English, but she was so interested in trying to communicate in anyway she could with me.

Time to learn how tea is made!  Welcome to a Tea Factory

I look like Andre the Giant…

The Tea factory was an awesome experience.  The older man in the picture had been working in that factory for over 20 years.

This machine separated the tea by weight and size. By blowing air through the machine the larger tea parts would fall sooner, and the smaller would go further.

Waterfall we found on our way to Rafting

If I look concerned here its because I was very concerned! This kid came out of nowhere and grabbed my hand.  I was like what in the world??

I realized she was trying to help me go back up the steep path back to the car.

Rafting was our last activity before we headed back to the airport.  It was a lot of fun and this was the only picture we have of the event.  Unfortunately we don’t have waterproof cases for our cameras.  It was a Sri Lankan holiday that day and there were a bunch of people partying, laughing, and drinking at their waterhouses.  They were cheering us on as we hit the harder parts of the river. We got to get out at the end and just float down the rapids.  Definitely a great trip! Sri Lanka we will be back!

oh yea did I forget to mention when we got back to Dubai, Phil became terribly ill.  I took him to the hospital, thank god it was nothing too serious, just lost ten pounds!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my number one fan of my blog.. DEEGAN!!!!!!!!
